Allocutio : January 2020

Christmas ends and today is the Baptism of the Lord, the manifestation of the feast of Epiphany. The Orthodox Church celebrates these three feasts together i.e Epiphany- the three Wise Men from the East, the Baptism of the Lord, and the miracle at the wedding at Cana. God made them appear to the Pagans and to the Jews, especially where the first sign to the Disciples was at the wedding at Cana. Jesus Christ was baptized in Jordan, and we know that the baptism of him is a mission that he will begin, led by the spirit into the desert for 40 days of fasting. Baptism in the River Jordan is a mission that he experienced. Heaven opened and a dove on his head, he was anointed and the voice from heaven said, ” This is my beloved Son whom I ma well pleased.” So we are all baptized after the son of Him. Jesus with the spirit in him, he prepared,as the book of Isaiah says that the spirit of the Lord has anointed me, and he will bring the Good News to the Lord and then to proclaim the year of favour of the Lord.

So as baptized Christians, we too have this mission to bring the Good News to others, especially to free others from their bondage through the Word of him. We know that his Word will set the people free, so that his Word will truly led people to experience his love. So, in the Legion of Mary, we repeat the Word of Jesus to others and to share his love to others, for we are all called for the mission, especially to serve the church. As legionaries, we have our Blessed Mother to accompany us. As she brings Jesus to us, we bring Jesus to others and let others bring Jesus to all. Amen.
