Allocutio : December 2019

Br Frank Duff wrote in the Legion Handbook (p.327),”Mary was so utterly full of charity that she was found worthy to conceive and bring
bring into the world Him who is Charity itself.” Let us Legionaries be distinguished by this selfsame quality of intense charity as
we embrace this season of Advent.

Advent is a time for us to prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It is a time of waiting and hopeful anticipation
as we focus on Christ. Let us use this time to bring cheer to others by sharing our presence in our visitations; be it to the home bound,
the aged homes, the hospice or the ophanages. In our contact work, let us take this time to share about Jesus with others especially to the
non-Christians. Let then know that Christmas is not all about partying or a time to give and receive presents only. Share with them the real
meaning of Christmas.

Advent is also a good time to prepare ourselves by helping others in need- making someone smile, bringing hope and love… Sometimes, it is the little things that we do, where simple pleasure and joy are most precious which makes a precious gift for others.

Fr Jude Winkler, OFM Conv wrote in The Messenger of St Anthony (Dec 2017,p.11),”…This is Christmas, may we all see ourselves as shepherds who have been called by angels to come and give witness to the love of God seen in the birth of this child (Jesus). May we all be filled with wonder at the fact that God prepared this Christmas and every Christmas as a day on which His glory invades our everyday world.” Henceforth, let everyday be a Christmas in bringing peace and joy to the people we meet. Amen.
